"Technical communication is rapidly sweeping the globe. Companies need competent writers, designers, and communicators. To be a competent technical writer, you must be up-to-date with all the new styles, trends, and techniques in the technical communication field. The Society of Technical Communication (STC) brings that knowledge to you. While this organization is a national phenomena, the University of Wisconsin-Stout has developed a local chapter for technical communication majors on campus. We bring in professionals from the field to speak, conduct workshops on various softwares used throughout the industry, and attend regional STC conferences throughout the year. Not only does STC provide numerous learning opportunities, but it also allows you to network. Meeting new people in the field, professors, or even students in the major can prove to be beneficial resources throughout your career. With this said, come and explore the local STC chapter, and find out for yourself."
